Parasol questions, answered
Pick a canopy about 1m wider than your table. A 2.5m parasol suits a bistro set or small table, 2.7m to 3m suits a four to six seat dining set, and over 3m suits large tables and lounge sets.
A centre-pole parasol goes through the hole in your table and is the simplest choice. A cantilever parasol hangs from a side arm, so there is no pole in the way and it can shade a lounge set or move with the sun.
Bigger canopies catch more wind, so they need heavier bases. As a guide, a 2.5m parasol needs around 25kg or more, and large and cantilever parasols need 70kg to 100kg or more. Check the recommended base on each product, and go heavier if your garden is windy.
No. Close and tie your parasol when it is windy and when you are not using it. A cover keeps it clean and protects the canopy over winter.
Usually not. Some parasols come with a base, and this is shown in the product name. Otherwise choose a base from our Parasol Bases range.
