Shire 8x6 Iceni Potting Shed - Style A

Shire 8x6 Iceni Potting Shed - Style A

The perfect shed for a keen gardener, the 8 x 6 Iceni Potting Shed from Shire is a fantastic crossover between a shed and a greenhouse. This is because it provides you with plenty of room for storing garden tools as well as a sun-drenched interior space that is protected from the elements and is therefore ideal for growing plants. The windows spanning the front of the shed allow in buckets of natural light as well as adding to the overall charm of the Iceni. They are angled, which allows maximum sunlight for any plant life inside, and the handy potting shelf is perfect for accommodating anything you want to grow.

The shape and design of the Iceni, with a stylish pent roof meeting the glazed frontage, also ensures that it catches the eye and will look fantastic in your garden, with the added advantage that you will be able to draw the eye to anything you are growing inside too. Plus, there is an opening window on the opposite side to the door, meaning you can regulate temperature and airflow. You can purchase the Iceni with the door in either the right hand gable or the left hand gable. This is valuable as it means you can locate your potting shed in the best location in your outdoor space for the glazed side to receive the most light possible while still ensuring the door is easily accessible. This version of the shed has its door on the right hand side.

The Iceni Potting Shed has a number of excellent features that show its quality. The roof and floor are 12mm matching tongue and groove boards. This ensures that you have roof boards that are tightly sealed together providing excellent protection from the weather and a floor that can take heavy loads. A robust 44mm framework gives the Iceni its strength and stability and ensures a construction that will stand up to the test of time. The walls are also constructed from 12mm shiplap tongue and grove cladding, which again gives the building strength as well as excellent protection to the interior from the elements. The glazed frontage uses environmentally friendly and shatterproof styrene, and the side window uses horticultural glass. The door is a single door, a popular design feature on potting sheds, and is lockable so you can secure items inside. You can choose to assemble your potting shed yourself or, alternatively, you can choose our optional assembly service if you would like a team of professionals to do it for you. The Iceni also has a 10 year anti-rot guarantee, providing you follow Shire’s care instructions.

Other Options

As well as being able to pick between versions with the door on the left or right hand side, there is also a larger version of the shed.

About the Timber

You will be impressed by Shire's use of natural products and their environmental credentials. A high quality timber product starts with high quality timber, so it is important to know exactly what timber is being used for your shed. The most commonly used timber for garden buildings is pine (pinus) as this is widely available for a very cheap price, however all of Shire's garden buildings are constructed using high quality spruce (picea) and is sourced from Scandinavia under strict FSC guidance. Spruce is more durable than pine and provides a higher quality finish. This timber is slow grown unlike fast grown British and Eastern Europe's timber, and being slow grown means a tighter grain, less sap and with far fewer knots. The timber used on Shire's range is therefore a more durable timber that will last much longer than other timbers. Spruce is therefore the timber of choice for companies such as Shire who always look to produce the best garden building.
